What vaccinations does my horse really need?

Your veterinarian will determine which vaccinations are appropriate for your horse, based on individual factors, such as lifestyle, travel/exposure to other horses and health status. Veterinarians commonly recommend that horses be vaccinated against rabies, Eastern and Western encephalitis, Tetanus and West Nile Virus. Additional vaccines, such as rhinopneumonitis, influenza, Potomac Horse Fever and “strangles” may be recommended based on┬árisk.

Many of these diseases can be fatal to your pet. Preventing them is far easier and less expensive than treatment. If you would like more information on vaccines, ask your veterinarian.

We have a veterinarian on call for emergencies 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Call the clinic and if your call is not answered directly you will receive a message instructing you how to reach the on-call doctor.
